Why AerospaceSMS

One Aerospace SMS platform for every report, risk and result

Many organizations still run their Safety Management System on spreadsheets, shared drives and email. Reports get lost, corrective actions stall, and audit preparation turns into a scramble. AerospaceSMS replaces that patchwork with a single, structured system designed by aviation safety professionals, backed by more than 300 years of collective aerospace experience.

How it works

A closed-loop process from first report to verified closure

Every hazard follows a structured, accountable path. Each stage is assigned, tracked and locked once complete, so nothing falls through the cracks and every outcome can be proven.

Report

Anyone can report a hazard or event in minutes, by name or anonymously.

Assess

Score severity and likelihood on a consistent risk matrix and contain the risk.

Investigate

Find the root cause with structured, AI-guided analysis.

Correct

Assign corrective and preventive actions with owners and deadlines.

Verify

Reassess residual risk, confirm effectiveness and close with a full record.

Security and trust

Security and accountability are built in, not bolted on

Safety data is sensitive. Reporters need to trust that their identity is protected, and leaders need records that hold up in front of an auditor. AerospaceSMS was engineered around both.

Multi-factor sign-in, always on

Every user signs in with a one-time verification code sent by email or SMS. Multi-factor authentication is mandatory, not an optional setting.

Strict tenant isolation

Each organization's data is logically separated from every other customer, so your hazards, investigations and findings stay yours.

Role-based permissions

Reporters, investigators, managers and the Accountable Executive each see and do only what their role requires.

Protected anonymous reporting

When an employee reports anonymously, their identity is withheld from everyone in the organization, including administrators.

Locked records and full audit trail

Completed workflow steps become read-only, and every action is time-stamped and attributed.

Independently tested, U.S. hosted

Independent penetration testing, Amazon Web Services infrastructure in the United States, and encrypted HTTPS connections.

Proof, not paperwork

From investigation to evidence in one system

Structured tools guide investigators through root cause analysis and connect findings to proven corrective actions. Images are cropped and de-identified views of the live platform.

Part 135 commuter and on-demand operators, certain Part 91 air tour operators, and Part 21 type and production certificate holders are now covered, with Part 135 operators required to declare compliance by May 28, 2027. Part 139 airports face their own SMS requirements, and EASA has required a management system with SMS for Part-145 organizations since December 2022.

AerospaceSMS gives you the structure, records and evidence those rules call for, plus expert help with manuals and training when you need it.

What to look for in aviation SMS software

Spreadsheets and shared folders can hold safety data, but they rarely prove that a hazard was assessed, a corrective action was verified, or a lesson reached the right people. When you compare aviation SMS software, look for confidential and anonymous hazard reporting, a consistent severity and likelihood risk matrix, structured root cause analysis, corrective and preventive action tracking with effectiveness checks, internal audits, Management of Change, training records, and dashboards that show trends over time. Ask how records are locked once complete, how access is controlled by role, and where the data is hosted. AerospaceSMS covers each of these in one system, hosted on AWS in the United States.

Questions

Aviation SMS software FAQ

An Aviation Safety Management System is a formal, organization-wide approach to managing safety risk. It is built on four components: Safety Policy, Safety Risk Management, Safety Assurance and Safety Promotion. Regulators such as the FAA (14 CFR Part 5), ICAO (Annex 19) and EASA require or expect an SMS for many aviation and aerospace organizations.

AerospaceSMS is a cloud-based Aviation SMS platform that brings hazard reporting, risk assessment, investigations, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), audits and safety performance analytics into one secure system with a complete audit trail.

Part 121 and Part 135 air carriers, Part 145 repair stations and MROs, Part 21 design and production approval holders, Part 139 airports, Part 91 operators, UAS and advanced air mobility operators, and defense contractors. The platform scales from small operators to multi-site organizations.

Yes. The platform is structured around the four Part 5 components and produces the documentation, risk records and safety assurance evidence that inspectors and auditors look for. Organizations newly covered by the expanded Part 5 rule, including Part 135 operators, must comply by May 28, 2027.

Multi-factor authentication is mandatory for every user, each customer’s data is isolated, access is role-based, anonymous reporters are protected even from administrators, completed records are locked, and the platform is independently penetration tested and hosted on AWS in the United States.
